About Foam

Foam is produced trough a chemical reaction between the ingredients. It is a basic A + B mixture which expands to about 15 times the volume.

Screen shot of the production of polystyrene. This material is produced at a fast pace, but will end up in landfills anyway where it takes thousands of years to decompose.

A biodegradable polystyrene equivalent (green polystyrene) which is made from sugarcane.

The green foam used in the 3D workshop for modelling is a polyurethane foam mixed with glass fibre. This type of foam is often used as filler for raising roads, filling gaps etc. as well as sanding blocks.
